 On April 27, 2021

Today was my last day and I was getting used to both age groups because they were so lovable and fun to be around. Our day was full of fun and excitement. The CT talked to the toddlers about how nice and warm the weather was and we would go on nature walk around the block. While we are in nature we will talk about trees, green grass, and beautiful colorful flowers. The toddlers did look as though they understood the words the CT had spoken. Right after breakfast, the toddlers listened to music so we all were dancing and having a great time. The toddlers were increasing their large motor development. Some of the toddlers were using their cognitive skills to put together a three-piece puzzle with the teacher's assistance. I walked over to the station where the puzzles were and we assisted another toddler put the knob puzzles that consisted of animals into their correct place. I was proud of the toddlers who were able to grasp the knob puzzle using their fine motor development along with their eye and hand coordination. It was time for the toddlers to transition to circle time and the assistant teacher was singing the number song and the toddlers were holding up 2 to 3 fingers as she sang the song. After circle time, the students began to transition into the wagon to go on a nature walk. In nature, I talked about the color of the grass and how it grows around. Also, identifying and talking about the colorful flowers that were blue, green, and yellow. In addition, the teacher talked about the tall trees and counted each one as we walked past. Finally, we approached the side door of the school and at that moment it was time for me to head out. I will really miss the teacher, staff, and the children. I did let them know I will come back and visit.

 April 20, 2021

When I walked inside the classroom, the toddlers were sitting in a chair eating breakfast. After eating breakfast, I heard the CT inform the toddlers what they were going to do next after eating breakfast. She told the toddlers they will wash their hands and walk over to the rug for floor time with the assistant teacher and me. The toddlers were picking up books turning pages from left to right using their fine motor development. Another toddler was putting small colorful balls inside the pickup truck filling and pouring. Two other toddlers were sitting down on the rug next to each other making oohs and aah sounds to each other while they look at the animals in the book.  It was circle time and the assistant teacher began singing, the good morning song. She called each student's name they were shaking their heads and clapping their hands. The toddlers were fully engaged with a smile on their faces. After circle time was over the toddlers transitioned to a hands-on activity. The toddlers were engaged in making hand prints using colorful paint such as red, green, and orange. While the toddlers were engaging in creative art one of the toddlers began screaming and laughing at the same. Art is a form of expression and maybe it was her way of expressing how she felt. Next, the toddlers walked over to the sink with the assistant teacher for handwashing to prepare for lunch. It was time for me to go and the toddlers waved their hand and smile. I told the toddlers I would see them next week.

Last Day, Jeanette Burden

Today was my last day with the toddlers. The CT greeted me as I came into the classroom. I gave the CT's gifts and thanked them for allowing me to share my field experience with them and how I appreciate everything I learned in the classroom. The things I experience were good and some not so good, but I learned from my mistakes. The things I learned that I could take with me are time management and being consistent. I learned a lot in such a short period, and most of all, I will miss the infant's and toddler's smiles, laughter, and different behaviors.

Day 13th Mica Howard

As I walked to the classroom, I became sad because it was my last day coming to this room on Tuesdays to see my friends. When I walked in, the kids said, Ms. Mica, we will miss you with a poster. I was so surprised by this and how they would miss me. The children were engaged in various manipulatives, from waffle connectors to building cubes, so I joined them in the building. I asked some friends what they were building, and they responded with home. I continued building with the children, and we built a big home on the carpet. I thanked the students and the teachers for allowing me to come into their room and waved goodbye.

My 12th day Mica Howard

When I walked in, some friends said Hi, Ms. Mica, and one of them hugged my leg and smiled at me. It felt so good to be wanted by my new friends, and it was morning snack time, so I sat down with them. After that, we prepped the children for an outside time as the teachers washed hands and changed diapers/pull-ups. Then I helped put on coats and line up to place hands on straps to keep them together as we walk outside. The children were so happy to be going outside, and we walked to the park. We arrived at the park, and the children went on the climber and the slide and ran around chasing each other. Now it was time to transition back to school, and two friends did not want to go. So the teacher talked to them about eating lunch and if they could come so that they may visit again later. As I walked with them back to school, helped with taking off their coat and handwashing, it was time for me to go. I told my friends I had a good time on our fun walk to the park and I will see them next week.

My 11th day

I walked in nervous but excited because I would do my lesson about colors with the book, Colors with Ladybug, and ladybug art. There were only a few children when I arrived, so I assisted the teacher preparing the morning snack, granola, and yogurt. Then I prepped for my lesson by getting the art materials together, such as ladybug body, head, legs, boots, and glue. As I got my book, ready more friends arrived, and it was time to teach my lesson. I started by saying good morning, friends, as I introduced the book and asked questions about the book cover, along with letting them know what's next. The children were engaged, and throughout the story, I asked questions. The children were happy and eager to respond to questions about color recognition. When I finished the book, we were ready to transition to the art table, and I held up the ladybug body and asked what goes first? The children responded and were excited about putting the ladybug together and putting the colorful boots on. As we were finishing up, I pointed to the boots, and the children were identifying the colors of them and sharing the formation of their ladybug. I thanked my friends for allowing me to teach a lesson on color recognition and body part recognition. I also reminded them to take their ladybugs home and tell mom and dad the colors of their boots. I thanked the teachers for their assistance, helped set up for lunch, and waved goodbye to my friends.
